Meet our new writer Jessica!

My name is Jessica Burton, and I’m a senior at the University of Michigan-Flint, majoring in professional communication and minoring in psychology. I’m the Deputy of Buzz at The Disability Network – the communications intern. I write to help others, because I know that I am not alone, and I want others to know they are also not alone. Being honest with myself allows me to be honest with others. I have a couple of chronic illnesses, like fibromyalgia, and mental illnesses, like generalized anxiety disorder. The disabilities I have allow me to see a personal, in-depth view of the life that others similar to me face. My writing gives another voice to our daily struggles, so we may overcome them to be stronger tomorrow.
