Naomi Villaranda

My name is Naomi Villaranda. I started writing when I was 16 years old as a coping mechanism for how intently I felt. About 8 years ago, I was diagnosed with borderline personality disorder. Writing has helped me a lot. It allowed me to release the negative thoughts that sometimes spun in my head. Other times, I write to be creative or just to write in general. I don't write as much as I'd like to, but I do the best I can to write when I can. Most of my writing consists of writing in a journal, but every now and then I write poetry. Sometimes I feel that my poem is good enough to share with others. In the past, my poems were very dark and emotional, I wrote about how I felt, and at the time I didn't know why I felt the way I did. Part of healing is knowing what's wrong and going from there. I've been through many different combinations of therapies and medications over the years and it's taken quite a bit of effort to get to where I am in my life now. From that, I have been more inspired to write my poems with more positivity and hope. I hope my poems inspire you and give you hope; no matter what's going on in your life, you are not alone.
